Hi! I am Danielle Rutherford, a counseling graduate student at Tarleton State University- Fort Worth campus. I am working on completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am currently under the supervision of Ciara O’Neal.

My experiences as a child life specialist, educator, and graduate student have prepared me with the knowledge and skills to provide evidence-based counseling services for a variety of mental health and wellness concerns that meet the diverse needs of children, adolescents and young adults. My areas of clinical interest include: anxiety, depression, coping skill development, life transitions, sports performance, school and academic stressors, career concerns, and attachment issues.

I incorporate a cognitive-behavioral and individual psychology (Adlerian) approach in my counseling, viewing therapy as a collaborative counselor-client relationship for individuals to learn how to change their cognitions, connect with their feelings, and learn helpful behaviors and coping skills, so they can live a more fully functioning and meaningful life. I enjoy building the therapeutic relationship through optimism and empathy, meeting my clients where they are at and building on their strengths through a present oriented approach. I will aim to help you feel seen, understood, and valued as we journey together to help reach your unique counseling goals. I believe individuals have the ability to solve their own problems and achieve the change they desire, they just might need a little help along the way.

During my free time, I enjoy doing yoga, baking, walking the Trinity Trail, hanging with friends and family, and watching sports.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting your journey towards becoming your best self!
